Gender, Energy and Displacement: International Women in Engineering Day 2020

In 2018, under the direction of Professor Elena Gaura, Humanitarian Engineering and Energy for Displacement (HEED) conducted a series of workshops in displaced camps in Nepal and Rwanda. Elena and her team included sessions with all-female groups to understand the everyday experiences of energy poverty and how it informs future aspirations as well as daily practices. In delivering the workshops, the team sought to research energy differently by working with communities towards addressing energy poverty with sustainable renewables and challenge gender inequalities in energy access
